The space between what we believe and what we choose or when knowing is not doing

It’s not laziness.

It’s not a lack of willpower.

It’s simply that moment when “I know” and “I do” start arguing with each other.

Sometimes I know exactly what would be good for me… and yet I choose something else.

I know I need rest, but I start cleaning the house.

I know extra weight affects my health, but I reach for sweets at night with the classic “just today.”

I know balance matters, but I keep adding things to my TODO list.




Most of us feel that quiet discomfort, the mix of guilt, restlessness, and self-criticism.That feeling has a name: cognitive dissonance.

It’s the tension between what we believe and what we actually do.

It’s the mind trying to close that gap between our values and our actions.

Sometimes I reduce that tension with justifications ("I deserve a reward", "It’s not that bad"). Other times, I take a small real step toward my values.


What about you?

When was the last time you knew exactly what was good for you… and chose something else anyway?

What’s your favorite justification when you do something that doesn’t really honor you?

What story do you tell yourself to quiet that discomfort?

If you stop telling yourself those stories… what uncomfortable truth would remain?

Which “just today” habit have you been carrying for months?

What’s the price you pay in your peace of mind when you go against your own values?

And when was the last time you chose honesty with yourself over comfort? How did that feel?


Cognitive dissonance isn’t an enemy, it is a wake-up signal. Even when we choose not to listen.

For me, it’s the voice of sincerity within myself. When I listen, it brings clarity. When I ignore it, it shows me exactly where I still need alignment.
